Trans Legal Clinic
1) As of Feb. 22, the White House and federal agencies announced they were rescinding guidance on Title IX regarding trans and GNC youth in schools. On Sunday, March 5th at NOON, we will hold a Know Your Rights session for youth, parents of trans youth, teachers and other staff who work in/with schools. This will be a workshop to learn about what to do in Oregon schools, what protections exist in our state, and how this works with the federal guidelines.
2) If you’re interested in updating your name and/or gender marker on federal and state documents, we’re here to help! Updating your information can be super confusing or overwhelming and there’s no single process to make this happen.
The ID clinic will have copies of forms, frequently asked questions, guidance on how to go through each process, and check in with providers who can sign DMV forms or schedule you for appointments to get letters. Documents we will be addressing include: passports, social security, military ID, state issued ID (including driver’s licenses), birth certificates, and court orders for name and gender marker changes.
Plus we’ll have snacks!
