December 2022

Tuesday, November 29, 2022

Now that it is December, the temperatures will be dropping, rain will be colder, and the snow may start to fall. We want to be able to share some important information regarding winter preparedness for our community.

If extreme winter weather is forecast, area agencies will open up warming shelters for residents. You can find where the shelters are located by clicking on the links:

If you will be traveling where there is winter weather, please remember to do the following:

  • Have some emergency supplies in your car available, like food, water, and blankets in case you may be stranded or delayed.
  • Check the road conditions at TripCheck.com
  • Delay your travel if heavy or extreme winter weather is forecasted along your way.

If you are planning to get together with family and friends this month, please remember that COVID-19, flu, and RSV are viruses that can be transmitted by respiratory droplets. If you are feeling ill, please stay home and isolate, wear a mask in public settings, wash your hands regularly, and disinfect frequently touched surfaces. Vaccines are available for the flu and COVID-19.
