Emergency Preparedness

Simple Steps to Stay Safe & Informed
Emergencies can happen anytime—extreme weather, wildfires, earthquakes, cyberthreats, and more. The best way to protect yourself and your loved ones is to stay informed and be prepared.

Get started in three steps:

  1. Stay informed. Sign up for emergency alerts by voice, text, email, or landline in your language. Sign Up for Alerts
  2. Build a network of support and information. Identify trusted people and community resources that can provide support, information, and essentials during an emergency. Watch for emergency preparedness resources at community health fairs and other events. Before, during, and after an emergency, your city and county websites provide essential information all in one place:

    City of Portland Emergency Management

    Clackamas County Disaster Management

    Clatsop County Emergency Management

    Columbia County Emergency Management

Multnomah County Office of Emergency Management

    Tillamook County Emergency Management

    Washington County Emergency Management

  3. Make a plan. Being prepared for emergencies isn’t just about emergency kits with food and water. Plan for what you’ll do, where you’ll go, and how you’ll connect with loved ones and neighbors. Get Your Be 2 Weeks Ready Tool Kit
